Who We Are

A MESSAGE FROM OUR STAFF

We want you to know what we believe, what we practice, where we’re going and why we exist. As a church family, we want to be used by God as He grows and develops you in your faith.

Redemption Shoals, Staff

Our greatest desire at Redemption Shoals has nothing to do with the church you attend, the clothes you wear, the work you do, or the past you’ve come from.

Our greatest desire is for you to know Jesus!

If you are interested in knowing more about having a relationship with Jesus, you may respond during the invitation time at any of our services. You may also contact any of our pastors in our church office. We would love to listen to you and will attempt to answer any of your questions.

OUR CORE VALUES

LIVING LIFE ON PURPOSE IS IMPORTANT,
WHETHER AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR AS AN ORGANIZATION.

Taking the time to discover and define the ideas that we believe to be most valuable provides an essential, life-giving framework. Additionally, it gives us freedom to live out our individual and corporate ministry callings under the banner of Biblically-based principles. At Redemption Shoals, we believe that God has revealed to us five central principals that are the basis on which we build all our activity and ministry. These “core values” are listed below:

GOD DEPENDENCE

John 15:5
We believe that without Him, we can do nothing.

KINGDOM ADVANCEMENT

Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20
We believe that we exist for something greater than ourselves.

AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY

1 Peter 4:8-11
We believe that following Jesus happens best in relationship with others.

LIFE TRANSFORMATION

2 Corinthians 3:18, Galatians 2:20
We believe that our lives are a growing reflection of Jesus' life.

GOSPEL UNITY

Ephesians 4:2-6
We believe that the local church should reflect the diversity of Heaven.

OUR STRATEGY

CONNECT
CONNECT

GROW

SERVE
SERVE

Serve Jesus by serving others.

GO
GO

Go everywhere.

THEN & NOW

On January 31, 1944, the home of W. H. Green became the birthplace of Highland Park Baptist Church, as a group of Christians met and then called Rev. Covell Keenum as their first pastor.

The young church quickly acquired property and, on the first Sunday of May 1944, moved into the renovated “Silver Slipper.” Those believers worshipped, prayed, and serviced the Lord together and God blessed their efforts.

In October 1949, Highland Park was accepted into the Colbert-Lauderdale Baptist Association. In March 1957, the church bolted to build and new building and in January 1958, the move was into the new brick veneer building and the old “Silver Slipper” was torn down.

Over the next 10 years, additional lots were purchased and in 1975, the church voted to build an education/activities building. As the promissory note for that facility was burned in April 1989, planning began for an additional construction. On August 19, 1991, the very first worship service was held in that Worship Center. In 2013, construction began on our new campus at 503. S. Wilson Dam Road in Muscle Shoals. On Sunday, December 14, 2014, we met for the very first time for worship in the place we now call home.

In early 2024, Highland Park officially voted to change its name to Redemption Shoals. Throughout our 80-year history, God has blessed this body of believers. Our church has grown in membership from 44 to over 2000. As we look to the future, our prayers no doubt echo those of that small group in Mrs. Green’s home – a prayer for God’s guidance and direction as we seek to glorify Him.
